Greetings again steemians, I trust the Thursday is turning as you expected? Once again I am here to share a piece of my thought with regards one of the most demanding task in life. That task is nothing else but PARENTING.

One of the greatest challenges most couples face in today's world is raising their children to be responsible and successful at the same time. As the days grows from bad to worse it often becomes extremely difficult because everyday of a child's life, the child is faced with differing thoughts on social media, internet and other adults, these entities often present young minds with strange, mixed and differing information. These mixed information may channel the child into the wrong paths of life such as drug abuse, immorality and other indecent behaviors.

Drastic changes in the make up of childhood can be observed closely in the number of cases of suicide, homicide, drug and alcohol abuse, school shooting and campus cultism. It is suffice to say that both parents and children are often faced with pressures of life, while parents are intensely faced with the pressure of working their selves out in other to foot bills and provide a good life for their children. Children on the other hand, are faced with the pressure of what to assimilate as the right information, what to do as the right action. Often times children are thrown into anxiety and depression and it's getting harder each day for children to learn the art of self-management.

Truthfully, sometimes parenting might seem as an insignificant task. But amidst the troubles and meanders of parenting there is a light at the end of the tunnel, there's a reward for good parenting. That reward seems like an everlasting crown that is worn by parents during old age.

Although there are no guarantees that children will turn out right even with the best form of parenting but here are some important things to note and practice for a good parenting journey.

• Parents understand what your values are and how best to inculcate it to your children. A person can never offer what he doesn't have, so parents know what you hold dear and how to teach your children to follow suite.

• In as much as values are crucial, character is top notch. Character entails who a person is, the foundation of character lies on values. While values are often abstract, character is visible to the eyes. Parents do well to practice what you preach, this is a simple but effective way to impact positively to your children.

• Parents are also expected to have a competent level of emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence helps an individual to manage his emotions even in the face of dare challenges. Parents try your best to have a good sense of emotional intelligence, this will help you to use each emotion expressed by your children which might be either positive or negative to teach them valuable and practical lessons.

My heart goes out to all the parents who work effortlessly to raise better children, thank you for taking a crucial step of making the next generation better.
