Have you ever wonder why trees are considered to be wise? Throughout the ages, humans observed the growth of trees, the annual death of revival of the leaves, so they saw trees as a powerful symbol of life. Therefore, evergreen trees are often seen as a symbol of immortality. Like Banyan tree. Cool, right?

Trees are wonderful sources of inspiration for art. I came across this beautiful poem:

Winter Trees

by WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.

I love the last verses. Wise trees stand sleeping in the cold.

So... are trees really sleeping in winter? No, they don’t sleep. The leaves are gone and the growth is slowing down, but they still function. Roots are still growing, so trees still need our attention. Love them, as much as I do ❤️
