How To Make a Snowflake Ornament
Today I want to show you how I make a snowflake ornament using wire and a few beads. These ornaments are adorable for winter time. You can use them in your Christmas tree, as well as everywhere in the house, or even hang them by your car rear-view window.
You need about 50" of wire and 13 beads. I like to use smaller beads in the middle, so I use 6 small beads and 7 larger beads. Start by making the loops and sliding beads alternately, as shown. Small loop, small bead, large loop, large bead.
After you finish making 6 small loops and 6 large loops, start twisting the wires from the bottom. Note that the last 2 long wires remain loose, because we will make a loop there. In the last picture you see how I tighten the wires. Try to be neat, don't worry about perfection at this point.
Slide the last large bead and make an extra loop on top, that will be the bail. Twist the end wires and tuck them in. Now gently push the wire towards the center and make a loop. Use your fingers and bring the wires together, as shown in photo 2. Now you will twist the wires. I like to use pliers, it comes out more neat. Do this for all 6 wings.
Tighten the loops. The snowflake looks pretty cool as it is. Now take another large bead and a small piece of wire and attach it in the middle. Perfect, isn't it?
... and here is my snowflake ornament in the Christmas Tree! Beautiful!
Oh wow! I love this. The Christmas season came so fast for me this year and I was not thinking about decorating, but I will be making these over the year for next Christmas for sure! You have been bookmarked in my ToDo4Christmas file! Thanks for a well done tutorial.

Looks a lot better than the snowflakes I make, where I get a white piece of paper, fold it a bunch of times, then cut out random shapes.

Thank you, my daughter has one in the car 🚗. I made a few for the Christmas tree also.
So cool. My mother and I used to do a lot of Christmas crafts when I was a child. This post took me back to those times.
I am so glad that my post made you remember sweet times. Maybe you should continue the tradition 😊
What a beautiful snowflake, @starjewel... I think I would wear mine as a brooch :D
I made some jewelry in this design. Pendants and earrings. I never made a brooch, I am not sure how to make the back of it, must learn. 😊
