Sometimes a lot of things happen and we wonder HOW?
sometimes we see some people been elevated from the grass to grace while we can see available able and qualified people within that ought to rise to the greater position and we became confused. Then we ask HOW?

You need to understand one thing that God is not a man. Man sees and analyzes what he can see physically but the mighty God sees us all skin deep into our heart. He knows the characters and behavior you are yet to show any man.
The scripture ascertain that in

1 Samuel 16:7 phase 2
The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Let check on the story of Jacob.
Jacob means a deceiver and a planner.
Despite the fact that Jacob lied and received the blessing of His father, still God kept watching him and sees through His heart and God made him promise.

Genesis 28: 12-15
12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
13 There above it stood the LORD, and he said: “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.
14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.
15 I am with youand will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

To the view of man, You and I would have condemned Jacob for his treacherous act and made him suffer but God is not a man, God even promised not to leave him until He has fulfilled what He promised him.

Let us take a look at the case of David as well
David though tender in age, exhibited a heart of a leader. His character was expressed by Jesus Christ in the Parable of the lost sheep
David was indeed a shepherd even as a boy in age, He possesses a shepherdic characteristic, the courage to make tough decisions, He is inspiring with a sharp brilliant brain and also have huge sense of humor.

1 Samuel 16: 10-13
10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The LORD has not chosen these.”
11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the LORD said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

Finally when it came to making the choice of king for Israel, even Samuel was convinced with the outward look but God judges the intents of the heart. He sees beyond the surface, that's why He is God and David was anointed at last.

Conclusion

What do you have in your heart behind this your outward look?
What character do you possesses that you haven’t shown to anyone yet?
You need to understand that God sees it all, God knows you more than you know yourself
