Do You Spend Most Of Your Time In Front Of a Computer? | Health Advice (1 min read)
Are you a programmer who is coding all day long and sometimes during the night too, dealing with bugs and meeting deadlines? A writer or you're someone who must keep an eye on the crypto market all the time. You could be anyone whose work is related to staring a computer.
One thing I’ve noticed mostly is that the aforementioned people treat themselves as machines. They stop caring about how they feel physically and think that productivity is a function of caffeine, food and specification with your body.
Well I was personally in this case. I’ve had a very crappy life hygiene during my CS degree. Fast foods nearly every day, not enough sleeping, sitting the whole day and not exercising at all. I discovered the benefits of healthier life a few months back. Well, not discovered but I just took them seriously. The Result? I started to feel much lighter and less lethargic, stopped smoking and released myself from unwanted stress. So today I want to share some tips for a sound mind and body.
Cut out sugar
Sugar is the evilest substance, it makes you obese, it makes you sick. Try to leave it or at least reduce its consumption.
Eat slowly
The human brain takes up to 25 minutes to get the sensation of fed hunger So don’t start eating like a maniac. Always go slow and take your time and chew properly. This technique helps in digestion and you only consume the amount of food you need. Eating fast makes you eat more but when you slow down, you will be able to really appreciate your meal.
Quit eating lunch at your desk
Watching a YouTube video or checking mails at your desk while eating is the worst. Change the habit. Instead, walk to a nearby park and partake of your food. You might end up discovering something or some new people while you’re there.
The Right type of snack
Have a pack of nuts or some fruit, crackers in the front of your desk. No candies or sweet snack bars that are full of sugar.
Stay Hydrated
Don’t drink only when you are thirsty, have a bottle with you all the time (Drink some right now as you are reading this). Increased water intake will itself force you to take a break to use the washroom. People prefer having energy drinks while they are at work, they do more harm than good. You’re just messing up your kidneys but taking such sugary intakes. Just replace every soda or sweet beverage with water.
Get enough sleep
Make a good routine by getting 8+ hours of sleep, start going to bed early. You will wakeup naturally with a smile on your face.
No Screens when its bed time
Stop all forms of working or screen time, two hours before going to bed. I know, it is habit of people doing thing just before they hit the bed. Just give your eyes some rest dammit!
Sit correctly
You can find plenty of pictures on the internet showing the correct posture when sitting in front of a computer.
So that was all for today, These small habits if we get used to them . They become beneficial for us in the long run.
I Too Corrected my habits..mainly Drinking Water at each short intervals. Thanks
