Duval back in the businesssteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi, Steemers!

One of my favorite rally drivers from the past 15 years, Francois Duval is back in the business. This time in World Rallycross Championship - called WorldRX.

He drove for works teams - Citroen and Ford (and some S2000 works teams - lower category driven in Intercontinental Rally Challange and European Rally Championship because WRC cars are banned there).

I remember well his seasons 2003 and 2004 and also split with Jean Marc Fortin (current Toyota manager for Dakar) as a co-driver. Later Stephane Prevot said he can't co-drive Duval anymore because he's serious crasher.

Finally, first and only WRC win came in Australia, last event of 2005 World Rally Championship, this time with Sven Smeets (now manager of VW customer's programs) as a co-driver and this time behind Citroen Xsara WRC.

But even that didn't save his seat for 2006 season. He couldn't find sponsors and only offer from private Belgium team First Motorsport to drive slow Škoda Fabia WRC 2006 (mechanical diffs; that season electronic diffs were banned) was on the table. He drove some rallies with some offs because he wanted to prove himself to works teams he's good enough. But offers didn't come for a full season.

He drove occasionally for Ford works team on tarmac events until season 2010 and that was it from him on World Rally Championship scene.

These days he drives some events in Belgium Rally Championship in his old Ford Escort or in some R5 car (as a Hyundai) when some offer from the private team comes to a table.

He also drives World Rallycross events like in his native Belgium when World RX comes there. This time he'll drive Riga replacing Dubourg in his private team.

We will see how Duval will perform. His onboard videos are legendary as you can see his raw speed and the reason why he was the 'hottest' driver on the market after season 2004. Citroen paid him millions (probably) for only one season.

@ssekulji A pleasant put up..I am exciting..

the legend is back, I am reminded of the official announcement of his accident. "During the operation, internal bleeding was found to require intensive care, and surgery was done to stop internal bleeding and at 1 am on Saturday morning the condition has been relatively stable but has not yet been declared out of critical condition." i am very happy for him
