The Old Town of Split is a wonderful place to explore, and you can feel the ghosts of ages past
Sitting on the shore of the Adriatic, this city holds many secrets. It was founded by the Greeks as early as the second or third century BC, but it was the Roman emperor Diocletian who really developed the place around 650 AD. He built a magnificent palace complex, a large part which still stands today.
Split is quite unique, as winding alleys, churches, apartments and courtyards have merged into the more ancient brickwork of Diocletian's palace. If these walls could talk...
