How To Calculate the Standard Deviation Part II. In part one, we did the calculation by working through the problem and in this part, we look at some of the properties of the standard deviation. In the video, we look at an example where we remove an outlier and we see the impact on both the standard deviation and average, which shows us how outliers influence the standard deviation. In a similar manner, if our data our spread very little or are spread in a narrow range, we'll see smaller standard deviation values.
