Why SportsPodium is such a good idea

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Combining the world of blockchain, cryptocurrency and sport seems a little off the wall at first, especially for sports people. Let’s face it, while we are all comfortable with digital currency, and cryptocurrency in particular, world adoption is very low. And amongst non-technical people even more so.

I was introduced to this world and told “you can make money out of nothing”. It’s a Ponzi scheme is my first reaction. And that is generally the first reaction we get when talking to the very much non-technical world of sports starts.

Why the sports world need this

Sport is really big business. To all estimates we can get this industry tops the US$ 3 trillion mark per annum. This includes all aspects, from equipment, to TV to fan merchandise and of course sports salaries. It however is really surprising to hear how little of this sports people actually see. In a way this is not far of the way people treated gladiators, who often where slaves and had no real choice. Yes there are always a few very famous names that are shown to be very wealthy. I mean you have to give something to the talent so that they will keep coming.

The industry truly need disruption. Far too much of the money flows to the administrators, sports bodies and agents. Too little to the sports people. Essentially for those that know (and we have a few of these among us in SportsPodium) sports people are actually treated really bad, have to kiss ass (and worse) to be promoted and recognized and are very much controlled by puppet masters. By creating more openness in the talent identification process, this can be changed. We do not say do away with all these people that make things happen for sports people, we just want to make sure the good ones are rewarded, and that sports people can be recognized for their talent and effort in an open and transparent manner.

Why Cryptocurrency needs this?

Cryptocurrency has come a long way in the last decade. In fact it has come a long way in the last 3 years. While it is still a little way off from main stream adoption, or even understanding, more and more people are becoming aware of it. To date investors and techies have adopted it in a large way, but there are very little adoption from the broader public. Steemit is doing much to change this, and perhaps potcoin has helped a little too.

  • By bringing massive brand names into the fold as SportsPodium Ambassadors, the crypto world can take another great step as these stars will bring credibility and adoption through association.
  • Much of the crypto world is still driven by the token creation process to reward communities, or as in the case of Bitcoin, by the perception of value driven by the need to find a place to store wealth. Sportspodium intends to create money inflows in numerous real world proven ways, with one exception to how it now works, the community will share in all flows, and the sport star is at the heart of this

Please share this post far and wide and follow us @sportspodium for more information. This is our final introductory post, from here on forward we have something different in store.

I’m part of the best Czech team in Ultimate Frisbee. We commit most of our free time to train like pros, even though we have to attend our jobs first in order to be able to afford everything. We have to pay all the training equipment tournaments, travels etc. on our own. Doing the sport full-time WHILE having to work our asses off to even be able to play it is tough and this could be partly (or even fully?!) a solution! So far our biggest achievements were 9th (just outside the elite bracket:() place in European Club Finals 2 years ago and this year we have ended 5th on one of the biggest tournaments in Amsterdam. We are going to breach the top 8 this year (at least that’s our goal:D) Anyway I’ll stay in touch cuz i LOVE this idea:)

@sportspodium love the concept. My agency represents professional athletes and Olympic stars. I was planning on reaching out to Steem to see if we could work up an idea like this. You've saved me a lot of time! Look forward to connecting and learning more.

Hi @ebmgrj, thank you very much and we are very excited about the possibilities as we know this will have a massive impact on the sporting industry as a whole.
