SportsPodium year 1, the pregnancy
I have often said that a business is like raising children. And so it is with SportsPodium.
The first time this project was worked on was in 2011, when it was known as MyRugbyCV. It was a web 2.0 project, and it had the underpinnings of what we are doing now, without any of the crypto. In 2012, we built a Alpha version of the software. Through 2013 we improved our algorithms and launched our Beta in 2014, that we tested for three years in various junior tournaments, getting modules such as tournament play ready. While we proved the concept, and refined our processes and algorithms we needed more. All of this was pre baby in my mind. Now it was practice time for the real thing.
In March 2017, after spending a year with Crypto in various ways, we decided to launch SportsPodium. Step one was to strengthen the initial team. We added Chris and Pieter as Sports PR and Tech skills, and then we brought onboard our first sports star and social media expert, Natalie du Toit. We added a few more technical skills in Robert and Graeme Oswald.
We then set about finding some advisors, people that can guide us in commercial, legal, technical and crypto aspects.
In 6 months we thought we were ready for our ICO, what I see as the birth of SportsPodium. But with some hard looks and long conversation with said advisors the team had to make a very difficult decision to postpone the ICO from September 2017. We had the baby room ready and painted, had the baby shower, and then was told, wait .... that was not fun.
But we really want this baby, so we waited. What was clear is that we needed two things. More marketing and PR (lots more) and more crypto big shots. And this is what we set out to do. Baby time is coming, and we know we will be completely ready when it does.
We are completely rebuilding our look and feel, and while the project is really solid and not much needs changing there, we are strengthening our market messaging and approach. We are looking at bringing a few more advisors into the fold, and strengthening our team more, specifically in the marketing space. Watch for some announcements here. We will also be bringing some ambassadors aboard, and Natalie as our Chief Community Officer is hard at work with various sports stars.
Al of this will let us hit 2018 hard and finally to launch this project and let it grow. To all of our community and followers, thanks for the patience and support.
