This Garbage Video Game Will Fill Your Bank.
If you find one of these in your basement, you won’t be occupied with Steemit for a while.
It has the dubious title of “worst video game ever made” and is in part responsible for the failure of a whole video gaming system in the early 80’s. The infamous game I’m talking about is none other than E.T.: THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL.

Made as an adaption of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster under the same name, this game is one everyone loved to hate. The story goes that the publisher, Atari, had so many unsold copies taking up their valuable storage space that they decided to unceremoniously bury them in a landfill in the New Mexico desert.
There the massive load of games slumbered, sleeping but not forgotten. Indeed, in 2014 the alien video games once again saw the light of day. And like a veritable alien invasion, the ‘worst video game in history’ took the earth by storm. Thousands of game collectors were throwing money hand over fist to get their stinking copy, freshly unearthed from a seemingly innocent landfill. ET is a testament to the fact that turning movies into games usually leaves you with pure garbage.
The town uncovering the alien landfill decided to sell a bunch of copies in lots on Ebay, which brought them over $30,000 in cash. Not bad for a day of dumpster diving. Single copies range in price from $5,- to $1500,- on Ebay depending on their state and, ahem, 'aroma'.

I wonder what made it so bad.
Supposedly, the gameplay was very dull and convulted. This, on top of the game strongly diverting from the actual story, caused a big negative outcry.
The devs also only had 5 weeks to develop it before the christmas release. Insane.
5 weeks. probably many shortcuts were taken.
Yeah, can't expect much in 5 weeks time, crazy pressure...
Nice post @spookypooky, Funny timing, I have a bunch of Atari games that I organizing right now to get on the market. Were a special part of my childhood. Didn't have the ET flop though. If you like vintage I have a company called 20cc -20th Century Collectables and will have games listed with my vintage TV's soon. Cheers Mick

Australia is a bit far for my neck of the woods, but that's really cool mate!
You should do a blog on runnings a vintage outlet like that. I'd be down to read.
Thanks Spooky, yes Im trying to work out the best way to show what I do. I think I have a lot to offer with my weird and wonderful items for sale. I think that the steemit community is very sensitive to spam at the moment and Im scared of looking that way. My collection is just like a museum really and I think it will be appreciate if presented correctly.

Cheers Mick (Daycrypter)
PS: Ill keep my eyes on your posts too! :D
