Welcome to the blockchain indeed
Hi Steemit, and the Steemit community.
I'm Niko, a 33 year old South African, who has been exploring the world of blockchain for over a year now (things take time to reach South Africa), but have changed my entire world since, using Bitcoin, and investing my time and efforts towards developing a blockchain world.
The start of this journey that finds me at this moment in time started when I started asking questions other people around me weren’t asking. Like, what is inflation? How do "economics" work? Why do I have to suffer in various aspects of my life to make money to feed myself? Why do we need money? Why is weed illegal? What really happened on 911? Why do banks get bailouts? What happened to gold? Why is everyone getting sick? Why do we have medical aid schemes? Why are we all sick? Who owns the media? What is a democracy?
So, if you can relate to having the need to ask these questions, then you can certainly see why I have landed on Steemit. I have a fb account, but no one can follow me, or be my friend. I always believe that fb was "Keeping up with the Jones" platform, and for most of my adult life, I haven't been able to keep up, let alone take part in the game. Twitter is cool. Short and sweet posts, but their censoring and bullshit is getting to me. Same with Instagram.
I have been doing research on Steemit for a while, however, @dollarvigilante (Jeff Berwick) and @wearechange (Luke Rudowski) re-ignited my research, I have been following them both for many years now, and Luke has inspired me to start an independent news organisation, and Jeff sparked a desire to know everything about money, and research wealth. They both confirmed my intention to join the platform. I mean, why wouldn’t I?
Also, the attraction I have is also link minded folk like you guys. I assume, and I could be wrong, but most of the users on Steemit I assume are here with a greater sense of self and individual freedom. Another inspiration I have is Dr Ron Paul, and Adam Kokesh, both huge supporters of freedom, and self-governing. Also, the way the system is designed, a symptom of the design seems to be the acknowledgment and support of freedom. No censorships, no selling of data, just post, take part, read, learn, and as a community, grow together. Beautiful.
As mentioned above, I am using my time and effort in developing blockchain technologies and systems in business, in direct opposition of the current suppression we have in our lives. Very much like Steemit is against the censoring of content (just one aspect), there are many other industries that need the same shift, like health, banking, insurances, community management, etc. It’s fun knowing that you going to piss someone off in an antiquated system clutching on for his mediocre safe life. I have to challenge. I have to ask the uncomfortable questions, say the uncomfortable things in order to discover the truth.
Some members of my family call me made, crazy, and weird, which I have no problem with. I wouldn’t have it any other way to be honest.
So, in closing, that’s just a small summary of me. I am so excited to get involved in Steem and Steemit, and meet free minded individuals and groups.
Peace
