Incredible moment with an Elephant
I had this moment at the beginning of 2015. I was on a drive (safari) by myself in the Pilanesburg National Park, and stopped at a hide.
The Elephant in question walked over a stream to get to the hide I was in with a couple I had not met until that moment
The person in the image dared to even touch the animal, and did. Looking at the image below, one gets a sense of what I was feeling at the time with regards to proportions of size. I felt small and insignificant.
There was nothing but silence in this moment.
Not the biggest elephant I have encountered, but still a good size.

Right time, right place. To think, had I spent 5 more minutes on one of the hundreds of things I did before that moment I would have missed that entire moment, and you wouldn't be dreaming of Africa right now.

It isn't expensive. I assume the most difficult part for people wanting to come to the wild in Africa is the plane ticket. From my perspective, it is very inexpensive to share moments like that, and I find myself very blessed and grateful to be in a country where these moments are easily accessible and achievable.

Freaking amazing photographs, I am in absolute awe. This needs to get more attention!!! In the future you should post around 5-8pm EST if you want the most exposure. Are you a photographer?

I am a hobby photographer. Those were all taken by my Galaxy Note 4 can you believe it. I had a beautiful Canon before it was removed from my possession unlawfully. Anyway, we move on.
That's crazy! iPhones suck compared to that, I think that's a better video than my camera takes. Really inspiring, have never been very interested in visiting Africa (I travel a lot) but now I think I'll have to check it out!

Wow...that first shot of the elephant is friggin awesome... What power !!
You can see that in live motion on the video. They are incredibly powerful animals, and I see them as the true kings of the jungle, not Lions.
I agreen, it is just the posture and the vista and all combined that makes a very powerful shot. You got it at the optimum moment :-)
I must be honest, my focus was on the elephant, not the environment, but this is Africa. Every moment has a beautiful environment in surroundings like this.

What a beautiful animal. Must have been an amazing moment.
Nervy and calm at the same time. What you won't notice unless you are looking for it is that Elephants are practically silent when they walk. You'd think their big tree stumps for legs would make a noise. Their feet are cushioned, and when they step, the pressure and impact is significantly reduced because of this cushion, and therefore the noise, other than the sand, grass, water, is virtually nothing. So it is a nervous calm... Heart was pumping.
