When sex is responsible for sudden death

Many clinical studies have shown that sexual activity can be compared to the practice of moderate exercise, such as cycling.

This study, published on 12 September 2017 in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, identified the causes of natural deaths related to sexual activity from autopsy data collected between 1972 and 2016. Approximately 38,000 deaths were analyzed over a period of 45 years of age by Dr. Lena Lange and her colleagues at the Frankfurt Institute of Forensic Medicine (Goethe University Hospital). The autopsy data were collected retrospectively until 2000 and then prospectively.

A total of 99 deaths related to sexual practice were identified, accounting for 0.26% of the 38,000 autopsies performed. These deaths occurred just before, during and shortly after sexual activity. There were only 8 women with an average age of 45 years. The men were aged 57, on average. The youngest woman was 22 years old, the oldest man 92 years. The age of most deceased individuals was between 40 and 69 years, but about 10% were over 70 years of age.

The causes of death associated with sexual practice were: coronary artery disease (atherosclerosis of arteries supplying the heart) (28 cases), myocardial infarction (21 cases), rupture of aortic aneurysm (tearing of dilation cardiomyopathy (chronic cardiac disease) (8 cases), myocarditis (inflammatory or infectious disease of the myocardium), sudden cardiac death (cardiac arrest without warning signs) case). A death occurred in a man in a context of myocardial infarction and cocaine poisoning.

Overweight and Obesity

The authors point out that 65% of the deceased were overweight or obese. They also note that 60% of the cores examined at the autopsy had a weight of more than 500 grams. One of the hearts weighed 1.1 kg. It should be remembered that the average adult's heart weighs 270 g in men and 260 g in women.

For 34 men, the death occurred during sexual intercourse with a prostitute. In two cases, two peripatetics were with the client. In 7 cases, death has overwhelmed a man in the company of his mistress. Nine men died during sexual intercourse with their spouse, or just after. Five men died during homosexual intercourse. Five women died during sexual intercourse with their partner. Thirty deaths occurred during a masturbation activity, pornographic magazines were found near the body. Most of the deaths therefore occurred in the presence of a mistress, a prostitute, or during a solitary sexual activity.

A total of 50 deaths occurred during or shortly after coitus. Five deaths occurred before sexual intercourse. "Bucco-genital reports preceded death in 3 cases, masturbation by the sexual partner in 7 cases. Three deaths occurred during caresses and / or a massage. In most cases, the death took place at the deceased's home. Six men died in the apartment of their mistress or a prostitute. In 5 cases, it was the residence of their companion or their girlfriend.

Thirty-one deaths occurred in a brothel, including 5 before the client met the prostitute. They had a very fragile heart.

Four men were secluded in a parking lot or park. A man was found dead in his car, dressed as a woman and surrounded by sextoys. A 53-year-old waited to be in the ambulance to give up his soul after his brothel escapade. Finally, 4 men expired in a hotel room and another in a massage parlor. A woman was declared dead in the hospital shortly after having sex with her partner in an apartment. A death occurred in a garage.
