Critical security flaw in ether: robbery worth 26 million and sinking of cryptocurrency
The big rival of bitcoin plunges 15% against the dollar.
Up to 150,000 ethers, about 26 million euros, disappeared yesterday from several 'digital purses', according to etherscan.io. The Parity smart coding company (platform responsible for these purses) has issued an alert warning of the vulnerability of version 1.5 of its software, which is used to store this type of digital currency. | The CEO of Securitas, declared bankrupt after his online identity has been hacked
Parity has classified this error as "critical", given its high gravity. So this platform, which incorporates an integrated portfolio to store ethers, has asked all users with funds in multi-firm wallets to move their funds to safer addresses, as explained by the specialized website coindesk.com.
Security, in doubt
Supposedly, multifirm portfolios are considered the most secure when opening the so-called 'digital purses', since the funds are protected under 2 and up to 3 different keys that are only known to the users involved in the transaction .
Since this digital theft has been known, the ethereum currency has plunged 14% against the dollar. At the moment, an ehter is changed in the market for 209 dollars.
This currency is considered as the biggest rival of bitcoin, the king of digital currency. Whether or not there has been a relationship, since this theft of ether has been made public, bitcoin has been revalued around 5% since then. This cryptocurrency is being traded in the markets for $ 2,347.
Thus, bitcoin is still immersed in its small bullish rally that began on Monday it was announced that the new software version for bitcoin, known as SegWit2x, seems to have reconciled the two sides faced in this digital market: the 'miners' who Act as the backbone of the block chain or blockchain, and developers known as Core who advocate other software for bitcoin. Although both parties have incentives to reach a consensus, the lack of central authority (no one who controls this currency) of bitcoin has made it difficult to reach agreement.
