The Fight for the Oil

Years ago, when I ended up living in Belgium, this was the first time....OK, the next time when I saw that people really care what they put in their mouths, ie. what they eat.
People who live in countries outside of mine.
People living in Western Europe.

Until that time, I was an average young person with a university degree who came to seek their fortune in the capital of my country. I lived in a small and dark rented room, struggling with the rent and the bills for electricity and heating. Sharing the apartment with the old landlady who lived in the kitchen. So - no kitchen, no private bathroom and toilet, nothing.
I had a small and old, cheap, but bought on credit car, which still required a lot of money for maintenance and gasoline.
My monthly budget was further aggravated by the theater tickets I often bought - this was my way of dealing with reality, of escaping reality.

So, food... I bought food in the store only on the basis of price. Not that I only bought discounted food, but I wasn't very interested in the ingredients of these products, as long as I could afford them. And the cheaper they were, the better. Needless to say, I could not afford to buy a number of food products that I loved to eat, many of them were just a luxury for me then.

And then I landed up living in Belgium...in one different world, I would say.

I can't remember when it all started with the takeover of palm oil products. When this palm oil began to be used for the production of everything ... almost everything.

Manufacturers reduced their production costs. But did product prices fall then? No.
Oh, that was compensation for inflation? But what does inflation really mean? Isn't this just an artificial increase in the price of everything?

The issue of inflation always reminds me of that popular meme saying: "The Earth is forty trillion dollars in debt. To whom? Jupiter?" And also of that popular Monopoly board game, played with Earth, but obviously, not by earthlings. Or at least not by all, by the common earthlings.

Anyways, after taking over the market from products made with palm oil (and rapeseed ... oh, I love this product called "classic mayonnaise" containing 62% rapeseed. I also love the name "butter flavored biscuits", which replaced the classic butter biscuits containing palm oil and some essence, 0.000001 some percentage of cow's butter extract)....After all this shit built in the food products field, do you know what is coming next?

Because I saw it yesterday in a store - products with stamps that say "without palm oil", of course, at a high price. Twice as high as palm oil products.

Well, I think that's beyond monstrous.

At least, because palm oil products have already become the standard in grocery stores.
How long has the research of people who claimed it was unhealthy, been made public? In a very short time.
Then everything was forgotten. Buried and forgotten.
(Hasn't the same thing happened to the 5G recently? Can you even remember it and what was said about it, since it is already installed all over the world and in every settlement - small and large? Once it has become the standard?)
And I'm sure most people don't even know what a palm oil product means.

At least not the people in the poor countries. At least not the people in the country where, alas, I live again.
Because every day I see parents feeding their young children with those cheaper chips, snacks and salt sticks, chocolates and chocolate eggs (that aren't even cheap, actually) produced with palm oil, and I wonder - what kind of people will grow up from those, probably mutated after years children.

So, when obviously everything on this planet is made for money and for the profit of certain circles in certain fields (in this case - in the food industry and probably not only), how can someone continue to claim and insist, that someone really cares about people, about common people.
One needs to have read and known only some facts and events from human (industrial) history. He must have read, for example, about what has happened to drugs like Contergan in the past, which have also been imposed as a standard in pharmacies. Or what the big cigarette manufacturers did in the last century in the USA, paying doctors not to mention the harms of cigarettes and the danger to the health to patients with damaged lungs...

Well, this post was about food manufacturing oils. But I think things are interconnected anyway. ;)

steem.jpgSoul's Detour is a project started by me years ago when I had a blog about historical and not so popular tourist destinations in Eastern Belgium, West Germany and Luxembourg. Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you.

Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to small and not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|
