118,000 eggs and chickens were seized in Italy on the back of the insecticide scandal

Italian police announced on Wednesday that they had seized more than 92,000 eggs and 26,000 chickens as part of an investigation into the insecticide scandal that spread across Europe .

The analysis of more than 250 samples at national distribution or treatment centers revealed two positive results of the presence of the insecticide "fibronil", the first in a farm in the city of Viterbo near Rome and the second in a pasta factory in central Italy .

This came after the Italian Health Minister announced on Monday that the first effect of the country's fibronil was on the white eyes, the first in Rome and the second in a distribution center in Ancona on the Adriatic coast .

Meanwhile, a number of frozen egg omelets imported from Germany have been withdrawn from the markets of Milan for containing the effects of fibronil, a regional official said .

Fibronil is commonly used to get rid of fleas and lice, but the EU has banned its use in the food industry
