Kicking coffee - At least for a month

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Ive been consuming caffeine since a young boy in large amounts, started with diet coke and drank dozens a day. Later in my 20s I moved to drinking Coffee as It was better than all those sodas. Now, I want to take a break and see how my body does without it.

I may still drink some black tea in the morning, more to hydrate myself. But besides that I want to take a month off coffee during "Sober October".

Until then I am stepping down how much coffee beans I consume, along with cutting back the hours during the day I drink coffee.

I have mirrored this to Viuly: https://viuly.io/video/kicking-my-coffee-addiction-804610

I got off sodas and caffeine years ago. I drink mainly distilled water from my Distillation machine which I've had for over 20 years. Also 100% pineapplejuice and green tea and other herbal teas.

Good job, I look up to others that have done that as I find it damn hard to give up.

I drink earl grey tea but thats about it besides water and coconut water. So I think if I can get coffee out or down to a very minimal amount that would be great.

Looks like that unit is about $1000 Thats something for me to think about, as we buy alot of distilled water every few weeks. thanks for the advise, ill show @activate.alpha this unit to see what she thinks as well.

You just have to clean out the boiling tank every 6 months, depending how hard your water is. Saves you money in the long run. There are cheaper distillers, but found this one was best for me.

@manorvillemike

Yours seems really legit, thanks for the info. Yeah figured there is some maintenance. Do you run well water through it or city water?

I use to run well water with a lot of deposits. Have street water now and much better.

my husband @syarrf also really likes to drink black coffee so he is strong staying up until morning

@santiintan

Hah yeah Ive seen your coffee videos, its a good drink to stay productive and keeps you awake thats for sure.

You can not drink a lot of coffee.

@setik-001

You are correct, it kinda goes right through me.

Finally, I've time to comment too.
I love coffee too. It's just a great drink. Way too delicious although some people really don't know how to make good coffee (or it's just matter of taste :P).
It highly probable ain't too bad for your health if you drink (not too much) coffee every two/three days but every day as a habit doesn't sound too healthy though, because it keeps you awake for eg. a few hours and after the "rush of adrenaline" you start to feel tired/exhausted anyway ==> now you have to drink some again to skip that tiredness. I also think it depends on the person, some people tolerate it better than others. And wow, eight cups of coffee per day sound a lot, four still sounds quite a lot but way better than eight my dear. ;D
You talked about way too much right there haha - unfortunately I don't have the time to reply to all of this, so I stick to the coffee topic.

Nice, welcome back. Hope you washed the slayed dragon guts from your wizard robes :-P

Yeah making it right helps alot, what alot of people use to make their coffee is really bad for them but they chose out of convenience to use instant products. I want to get down to a point where it wont be a negative on my day if i dont have it. At this point im still drinking it daily but have stepped it down pretty far, soon ill take a day off and see how I do. But yeah eight was way too many.

Hah no worries, thanks for watching and the great comment.

Haha, yeah, finally I managed to defeat this one. ;D

I agree. Those instant products usually ain't the healthiest. Sounds like a plan. Good luck dude. You can do it!

Np, you're welcome.

i don't drink coffee but i drink a glass of tea daily

@amorjyoti

nice, If I could just have a cup of tea in the morning I think I would be really happy with that.

Good post! Thank you and for sharing!

actually coffee is good for health, at least once a day ... my advice is not to be mixed with sugar ... the teeth will break down quickly if the coffee is mixed with sugar...
the coffee we process ourselves, roasted and then mashed, it very well

when do we drink bitter coffee together? :)

@syarrf

Well I have about 4 cups a day so maybe one cup wouldnt be so bad. Good advise, I use Stevia in my coffee which is a natural sweetener but I do not add sugar.

That sounds delicious, I would love to try your coffee. Maybe @kevirizal you and myself could all have some together :-)

Before these communists and criminals who are in the government of Venezuela seized my country. I used to drink coffee twice a day. Now that can not buy a 250g of coffee is almost half a monthly salary. can you imagine that ..
Now I only drink coffee once or twice a week, they are more the times I drink only once a week-

@lanzjoseg

Its hard for me to imagine, as the only inflation I have seen is maybe 2x to 4x. Like how a pack of gum used to cost $0.25 but now its close to a dollar or two. But thats nothing compared to the inflation you are dealing with, it seems completely unsustainable.

Christian Garcia turned me on to the criss in Venezuela from the LTB network. And I hear recently the government has forced some new minimum wage laws and it has closed half the shops, making the crisis even worse than before.

I hope you can return to drinking coffee daily eventually.

I LOVE TO DRINK COFFEE, I TOOK TWO GREAT CUP IN A DAY.

@wendyth16

nice, thats not too bad. I know some people that measure their coffee usage by the pot..

I love it too, especially on cold days. I mix butter and coconut oil in mine so it has a smooth rich taste.. hah hard to kick.
