Ultraviolet and Infrared Photography - Ponds

There are many bodies of water in Georgia, fresh water lakes scatter the state. I captured a few small ponds ive been around. They are nothing like Lake Chatuge, these little ponds are maybe an acre or two in size.

Taking the sidewalk there was a pond across the street. Sometimes I see Ducks and Geese there but not in this photo. There is also a sidewalk on the other side of the road but its covered in duck and geese poop. So I did not wander over there for a closer pond photo.

Another angle of the same pond above, you can see someone has a nice view of the pond all year around. I like the tree overhead in my photo, the couple leaves hanging out there look real cool.

Due to how water absorbs infrared light, the ponds have a very dark appearance. But with the indigo skies they still look appealing to me. And you can see the slight indigo sky color in the ponds water reflection. Many of the trees and plants have lost their leaves for the year, so bare for the next few months until Spring comes around.

I take photos with a special camera. Its a Mirrorless digital camera that has been modified by Life Pixel to see light in other wavelengths. This allows my camera to see light in the Infrared [IR] around 1300 NM wavelength, through the visual spectrum and into the Ultraviolet A and B wavelengths roughly into the 300 NM wavelength.

I carry many filters on me to make the photos you see in my blog, these filters screw on my lens and help me isolate certain wavelengths for certain scenes. These filters can be IR / UV pass-through filters to assist me get a natural photo taking out the UV and IR light. Or I may use a Infrared pass-through filter capture just IR light. I can do the same with IR light as well, though I need some better filters which they can cost a few hundred dollars for true Ultraviolet pass through filters. So for right now I have B + W 403 band pass filters that still allow some IR light in, due to their cheaper material.
