Deer bones and a Turtle shell I found during my hikes
During my almost ten years of living in Georgia, I have found some interesting remains in the woods. In this video I show off some of the Deer bones, antlers and Turtle shell I found while hiking out in the woods.
There was a skull found of a Deer that must have been out in the woods for a long time, it was completely clean and had some moss growing on it. I found part of its neck bone I believe and interesting to see the little holes in the bones.
One side of antlers were found but it was chewed on by something before I found it. Must have been young deer as it only had three points from the looks of it.
The turtle shell has some nice moss growing on it giving it an interesting appearance.
I have some other interesting finds, like a piece of hardwood that fell into a steam and had water run over it a long time making these interesting channels but I will save that for another post.

Pretty cool video and finds @solominer! Do you ever bleach any of the bones you find? Just wondering your thoughts on bleaching and if it degrades the bones more? The turtle shell brought back some memories of a no longer living turtle I came across on a walk in the woods. It was a walk that did not end the best but I came across some cool things so if I had to do it again than I would but maybe a little differently. Haven't posted about it yet but I will in the future. 😉
@deerjay I have not bleached any bones, I like the moss that grows on them so I want to preserve that. That's cool you found a turtle shell as well. I see alot of live turtles in the woods but not many empty shells.

Okay, it was cool to see the moss on it. The one I came across still had a lot of the turtle in it but was really white. It was a little sad to see it but interesting too. 🐢
@deerjay oh yeah then bleaching it would be a good idea to clean out the turtle bits. Yeah it's sad to think about sometimes.
