Baywatch 2017 The Movie

in #baywatch9 years ago (edited)

Wow, I stumbled upon this just now. I am always out of the loop when it comes to new movies and TV shows, mostly by choice. This one I’m happy to catch before it's a hit.

Growing up as a teen in the 90’s (I was born 1980) in the countryside of Ontario, few hours’ drive north of Toronto, I remember rushing home after school to catch the latest episode. I was 13 maybe-ish but I do remember I craved the story, since then I have grown up and in reflection the story lines sucked ass as much as they were a booby fest.

If I knew then what I know now all your base would belong to me. HAHA. The original was rock solid storytelling.

(Night Rider.. Noooo... how could you degrade youself)

But seriously The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) probably doesn’t have such "aquability" (new word) with such broad shoulders but hey if I was the producer I would chose him first too. He just fits the role so well, based on his past roles in similar characters. You know that aloof but strong, pretend to not know but really you do know type of character ready to kick anyone's ass but will do what he can to avoid a fight type of guy? .

(edited out a huge mistake in the casting names. Sorry, it's actually first time I edited something out completely. Feel free to look it up)

I expect to be taken down memory lane with this movie. I truly believe it will or I would't be doing some review of a movie I haven't even seen yet.

Now I wait for ”Danger Bay” remake. Haha. As a Canadian wouldn’t that be awesome but who today would play those roles. Haha, Canadians, imagine that. Who would be the lead roles?

Haha, yeah I was born in 78 and remember watching the original Baywatch. Seems they are turning all the old shows into movies now :-)

haha. that's awesome. What else can Hollywood do? The best stories have already been told...... until the next best story is told. Happy you can relate.

Well, better Dwayne than Steven Seagal. Come on, don't tell me you don't know Steven Segal when you have been at a time when Baywatch was on.

That's awesome Steven Seagal popped into my mind several times as I wrote this, So happy it came to your thoughts as well. lol. wild world man. GB us.

Lol I think this will be a cheesy guilty pleasure watch!!

how to double vote? u earned it. haha. Life is all guilty pleasures.

It is!! And that will be a cracker!

Good post but hasn't the appeal for me to go and see yet we go to the cinema every weekend. Best picture I have seen this year is without doubt Miss Sloane. Absolutely brilliant

Wait.. Ms Sloane . I know people with same family name lol. gotta put that on my list.

Its about the second amendment gun lobby and a court room drama. Rally fast paced similar to the Good wife on TV. I did a post on this recently

Seems like Hollywood modus operandi recently had been either remakes or series.. It's become so much of "Would investors feel safe enough on the ROI to put money for my new movie" rather than actually creating new contents to further the arts of filming.

It's sad actually. But really if one is the edgy type he'd need to search the diamonds in the rough for small-time directors that makes real movie gems in today's movie industry.

At first I had to google "modus operandi" damn latin/greek slash wtf. haha

But you're right it seems to be laziness. So many great ideas left to be discovered. Hollywood today has fallen asleep. Such a pity, I remember when a movie called "Uncle Buck" was the biggest hit. Now its all different, which is why I ignore it so much. I love Indy flicks, they come from the heart and soul. Not some anonymous bank check. Til then I just watch whats recommended. What do you want me to see? I love non English movies too.

My recommendation vault is nearly empty. Please help me fix that.

Hahaha... Oops, accidentally leaked out some of my nerdiness, sorry bout that!

I won't say it's laziness.. I think it's more like "playing it safe" to the extreme. Because honestly Hollywood is becoming more of a Wall-Street than well.... Hollywood. It's just Rich people throwing money to directors with the only goal of making more money.

Well, I don't really have a list myself.. Hahaha..

However my this would always be on the lookout for movies that won awards in either Sundance Film Festival or Cannes Film Festival. The movie critics there are a million times better than any Oscar or Grammy or whatever (read: not swayed by profit). And seriously only the best of the best wins anything, even being nominated is a feat in itself. At least that's my observation and opinion.

These are movies that I've known about or watched, listed in no particular order. Depends on what you like some maybe will strike a chord or maybe a "meh", but I honestly think these are the few good ones I'd recommend..

  1. Hero - 2002, directed by legend Zhang YiMou, Chinese film, the acting, the Videography, the story itself.. Mind blowing

  2. Room - 2015, adaptation of the novel with the same name, of course I won't go without saying THE BOOK IS BETTER!!!, this movie won the main actress Brie Larson an Academy and BAFTA award, so expect great acting, you won't be let down, if by the end you are already not 1000% engrossed in the story itself.

  3. Captain Fantastic - 2016, I don't know why it got only 83% on Rotten Tomato, but this is a movie that's under the "indie" category. Remember Aragorn from Lord of the Rings? Same guy, same bravado, different world, same powerful acting.

  4. Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless mind - 2004, I'll admit, I cried towards the end, NOT AN EASY THING TO DO!, This movie showcases Jim Carrey's true acting potential other than the "stupid funny idiot" roles he always play on other flicks, the story itself is almost too engrossing, you know im not wrong when it won the Writer's Guild award.

  5. Goodbye Lenin - 2003, a German film. Great story about human ingenuity and love in times of hardship. Funny in some parts when you have an old soul. Other parts, makes you feel fuzzy but sad. That much I'll say.

Honorary Mention : if you haven't watched and enjoyed The Godfather trilogy already.. You really should. What I did was first time I enjoy the story, second time I enjoy the director's careful and visionary Videography, third marvel at the acting of all the actor/actress.. And then subsequently I do l at once.. I must have watched it 8 times now and everytime I'll still be surprised.

Watch these movies when you have the free time and tell me if my recommendations are any good!

Man Hero is one of my all time favourites. Love that movie. Glad it's number one on that list. I'm going to find the other movies and check em out. thanks man. You must have good taste in movies if Hero at the top. ^^

Hahahaha... One can be a connoisseur of anything with the right knowledge.
