Dealing with negativity

in #fitness7 years ago (edited)

We all deal with negativity in our life, we just all deal with it very very differently.

Hi guys! My name is James and I run an Instagram page with my friend Danny called Spheres of Influence where our goal, as cheesy as it sounds to some, is to be a source of motivation and a source of information. We have a podcast where as of now we have talked about primarily fitness related topics but we will be diversifying the podcast soon. Find linked below is the link to one of our podcasts where we both (Danny and I) talk about a time we've dealt with negative situations and hope you can take something from it

Danny's experience:
I heard the phrase "did the work for free" quite a few times. That's an interesting thought that he had. This implies work = money, and in the case of work != money, then work = respect. That's a problem, that Danny needs to sit down and think about, seriously think about. Work does not equal respect; Respect is on a different spectrum, respect is an act of reciprocity. This is difficult, because this requires an agreement on values and principles, that's why respect takes time to earn. We first build the relationship (values/ principle contract), then we move on to are the parties following the contract, if yes then respect applies. This isn't to say the boss wasn't an asshole or something, just let's make sure our expectations are setup correctly or else this experience will repeat again and again, when that happens it's your fault.

James getting called fat:
The pen is mightier than the sword right? Physical appearance insults are the worst, because they carry some true right, and you know it does. It's easy to ignore something until it's thrown right in your face. I would want to think of this situation differently and react to it differently. Not to say I would, because it's damn hard to do. We need motivation and for many it's revenge or envy. The problem with using motivations of this kind is that one the "fire" runs out of fuel, you go right back to where you were before. There needs to be something greater than revenge and envy.

That's my thoughts, let me know what you think. feel free to checkout my articles, lots of material there that opens/challenges the mind and may give you some topics to ponder.
