A Rickshaw Ride Through Uttara, Dhaka

Life in Dhaka city has never really been my favorite. The tall buildings may look beautiful at first sight, but after a while, they start to feel suffocating. Personally, I love the open sky, the green surroundings, and that touch of nature which brings peace of mind and removes fatigue. Still, from time to time, I need to visit Dhaka either for some work or for job-related exams.

Today, I’d like to share my travel experience on a road in Uttara, Dhaka, while heading towards Diabari. As many of you know, it’s hard to find any place in the capital city without traffic jams, car horns, smoke, and endless crowds, especially during summer. But surprisingly, Uttara seemed a bit less crowded. While traveling by rickshaw along this wide road, I actually enjoyed the ride because there was no traffic jam.

This was a road in Uttara Sector 12 that leads toward Diabari. I first went there with one of my close friends and an elder brother. He had told me earlier that this road was beautiful, and a rickshaw ride here feels really pleasant. So, we decided to take a small joy ride.

At the beginning of the road, there were some furniture shops, and a little further we saw tall, modern buildings. They looked nice, but there was a clear absence of greenery. Seeing such places makes you feel as if you’re trying to breathe pure oxygen in a lifeless city.

Even then, the rickshaw ride was truly enjoyable. The area looked nice overall. If I ever visit again, I would definitely love to take another rickshaw ride along this road. A rickshaw might seem like a very simple mode of transport, but riding one brings a unique kind of joy that no modern vehicle can offer.
