Draw with a single thread wrapped around thousands of nails
Kumi Yashamita uses one continuous thread, wrapped around thousands of nails to draw stunning images of women and men.
In a continuous series entitled Constellation (referring to the Greek tradition used to follow legendary figures in heaven), the Japanese artist (who lives and works in New York) uses three simple materials to produce these works of art.
Mana, the first artwork below, was selected from among the 50 candidates for the Outwin Boochever Technical Competition, which is held every three years at the Gallery Gallery National Smithsonian Museum in Washington.
