What is your car trouble?

I want to give back to Steemit community and provide some help on something that I know very well. Cars and how to fix them.

Please ask me about your car issue. Won't go into gear. Strange sounds. Don't know if you should take your car in to the shop. Just ask.

Send me the make, model, and year along with car symptoms.

Please remember to VOTE and ReSteem

Ok ! I got one for you!

When ever gas is pumped at the gas station, the gas pump clicks off. Basically I have to trickle the gas in at a very SLOW speed. 3-4 cars can fill up in the time it takes for this car to fill.

I took it in to get it looked at and the place couldn't figure it out. I have always just dealt with it from then on.

Gas station trips always practice patience!!! LOL

Perhaps you are not holding the hose in the correct position. Haha

Actually, there is resistance to the fuel going into the tank. It is likely that the air is not able to escape. Here is a really good video that explains it.

hahah I thought I knew which way to point the hose! ;) hahah

Thanks for the video !!! That explained it VERY well.
I bet I can handle that!

There is also a small vent hose that follows the fuel neck to the tank. It allows the air in the tank to pass by the fuel neck as the fuel is filling the tank. It ties in right at the fuel inlet. If it is kinked or pinched, it can cause the same problem. However, it is very unlikely that it would be pinched though.

My car is a toyota corolla year 1993, the failure that presents is of carburation by the low octane rating of gasoline. Hardly I manage to always supply it with 95 octane. I live in Venezuela. The quality of Japanese vehicles is very high.

Most all Corollas during that time had moderate compression ratios like 9.0:1 to 9.5:1. There was a special Corolla that had 10.5:1 during that year, but it was only available for Japan. They call it the silver-top motor. I doubt that you have one of those in Venezuela.

With a 9.5:1 compression ratio motor, you should be able to run 87 octane fuel with no problem. Are you experiencing "pinging" sound when you accelerate? It is a sound like a diesel motor. If you are not experiencing this, then there should be no problem running the lower octane fuel. In fact, some people reported that running high octane fuel in those motors caused carbon build up as the fuel wouldn't burn properly. The lower octane fuel ran cleaner.

If you are still having problem with "pinging", an option is to adjust the timing to lessen the advance. The low octane fuel burns faster so the spark needs to be delivered later (you will need to retard the timing one or two degrees). You will need a timing light and some tools. A mechanic can do this to see if it fixes the pinging. Keep in mind doing this may reduce power and performance.

I think the problem is gasoline because when I put less than 95 octane, it goes off every time. Lose the minimum.

I didn’t quite understand. It sounds like the car stalls (stops running) when you put less than 95 octane?

Yes, because the gasoline de 91 octanes is very low quality, I get the impression that there are 91 octanes is less than that 87 octanes maybe, and also has a lot of waste.

You could try adjusting the timing, but I suspect that there may be some other issue. It could be a combination of bad fuel and a vacuum leak. If you had a vacuum leak or a problem with the carburetor, you could be running very lean. Combine lean condition with low octane and the car will struggle to stay running.

  1. Check for vacuum leaks.
  2. Check the sparkplugs.
  3. Check the carburetor to see if it functioning or adjusted properly.
  4. Check the sparkplugs.
  5. Check or modify the timing.

Are you mechanic or repairer for car???

I just watched your few post about car repair related....That's a motivational speech...

I have repaired aircraft, cars, bikes, and worked as an engineer for 12 years. Hopefully I can help.

Felicidades amigo @soky por excelente post
