1 Week without YouTube?

Hi,

you may have seen this a thousand times on steemit, but I now also want to try if I could survive (yeah, this is how far I have come) one week without YouTube. Of course I will post updates on how it is going.

Well, this is it: Goodbye YouTube; hello DTube...

Sort:

Does DTube work properly for you? For me as a viewer, more often than not it doesn't load properly or just buffers forever to the point the video is unwatchable and as a creator, when I did try it before giving up, the upload would shit itself more than half of the time and not upload. I've just discovered that you can upload actual videos to Dlive so I'm wondering if maybe that will be better, but DTube hasn't been very good for me.

I have encountered those problems too, unfortunately. But I haven't tried Dlive yet. I'll definitely check it out when I have time.

I used Dlive for the first time yesterday for raelly short videos for a post (I deleted the Steemit posts for each video though as it was excessive and didn't make too much sense out of context anyway) and it worked beautifully. Uploaded fine and I'm finding as a viewer dlive tends to work better for me. I tried uploading a bigger video overnight (about 35mins) and it worked fine. It needs to be under 2GB and my video did have to go through Handbrake to be made small enough (but dlive isn't alone there - Dailymotion has the same requirement) but there were no hiccups in uploading.
