They served Gunpowder in a restaurant!!! Just Indian Things..

I had my lunch today in a Restaurant called Nagarjuna, and its true they do serve Gun Powder with their meals.

I live in Bangalore, which is Southern Part of India. Today i decided to try South Indian meals for lunch. I decided to goto a restaurant which serves Andhra style food(Andhra Pradesh is another state in India which is well known for food with variety of spices).

Restaurant was called Nagarjuna.

I wanted to share my experience with all of you.

I was welcomed by this person and escorted to my table.

I ordered their Special,Nagarjuna Special Meals

This was one of the most elaborate meals i have consumed in my life. They served me 16 different food items for my meal which cost me 2$. All 16 items was unlimited. I could eat all i want and Gun powder was one of them.

The meal was served on a banana leaf. Main Items of the meal was Rice and Dhal curry with Green Coconut Chutney and Beans on the side.

What you see in the small steel cups are

• Sambar : A vegetable stew with a lot of vegetable like pumpkin, bottle gourd, drumstick, eggplant, cucumbers, lady finger, sweet potatoes, onions and tomatoes.
• Rasam : Spicy and Sour soup.
• Curd : Coagulated milk.
• Papad: Disc shaped, crisp Food.Something crunchy for the meal.
• Fried Chilli, Pickle, and desert called "Payasam.
  On top of all this there was special Spices in small steel barrels.

On of them was called Gun Powder.
Once they serve Rice and pour Ghee on top of the rice, you are set to go. Next you mix the gun powder with the rice and eat with all the other food.

Why call it Gun powder?. Well its Chilli Hot, and hence the name.
Gun Powder is made by mixing Dhal (Yellow and Black yentils), Red hot chilli , cumin seeds and many other ingredients.
The spice explosion in your mouth for each bite of your delicious meal cannot be explained.

I highly recommend all of you to try this cuisine when you visit India.
