WHAT? A Saturday feeling Ramble

What in the HECK is curation really?
Honest, what IS curation?

Hi Everyone!!
I came to Steemit, as most know because my son @ecoinstant thought it would be good for me for many reasons. He happened to be correct and for that, I'm very thankful.
I spent my first 3 months staying away from Discord groups. I had been in Facebook groups many times and really didn't want the hassle of all the politic's that comes with being in a group.
As time went on my choices became less and less on me not joining Discord, as I saw it.

The Freewriters group, that I love and am the most involved with, were finally on Discord. The Isle of Write (@isleofwrite) was kind enough to offer the Freewriters a home and channel. Something I will always be grateful for but I still did not join Discord. I liked being in my own world not knowing what was really going on in the underbelly of Steemit.
I'm not a political person. Ever. I am a people person and try my best to offer help where it is needed. Some might say different but this is how I feel and try to live.
The day finally came and I broke down and joined all my friends on Discord. I was lost and confused as I usually am when learning new things. IT was finally nice to have a private place to have conversations with friends though. This I have to admit!

Now if anyone has never read one of my posts. I am a question asking kind of person. I'm not stupid by any means but I learn things in my own way. Slowly. Then what I learn sticks.
Which comes to the question I started this post with. The question on curation I have tried to get answers to. Many, many very sweet people have tried their best to explain curation to me.
I'm going to be very honest and say that I still, after four months here, have no idea what it really is. I would so love to understand it because I think it's bigger than most know, just by how many times a day I hear the word.
Let me explain to everyone now thinking 'How in the world can you be here 4 months and not understand curation?'

Answer: Easy! Until a few years ago I had no idea what an icon was. Two years ago I finally got my first cell phone that I use just for emergencies. I had to learn to fix my computer when things went wrong so I'm very good now at using Google but I'm the type of person that didn't grow up with microwaves, cell phones, internet, Netflix's, which I still don't have. Snapchat makes me wonder why we need this in our lives, Twitter does the same. Do you see where I'm going with this? lol
Most people answer internet-ie questions thinking you know something.
A good example: I started playing the MMORPG game Rift and it took me two days to just figure out how to walk in the game. Yes, really. I would never lie about that. I went to Google, my trusted friend that has every answer in the world, if you know how to word the questions, and Googled my little heart out. Nowhere and I mean nowhere is there a tutorial, at that time, for a NOOB, NOOB, REALLY NOOB person that shows you how to walk in a game using the W, A, S, D keys.

Now you can laugh at what I wrote above. To me, it is a bit silly spending a week in a starting zone of a game where I now can get through a starting zone in less than 20 minutes but I'm not the only one out there with this problem.
The problem of coming from a different generation? lifestyle? that didn't grow up using technology.
This means when we ask a question we need the whole answer. Let me say this another way. Think of it as trying to teach your Great Grandmother how to use her new smartphone and live to tell the tail.

To conclude this post that took on a life of its own while I was writing it.
I'm asking for people that have had technology in their lives always, to realize that there are many of us, who most of the time, have no idea what you are talking about. <this is said with love ❤ > Make sure the person your answering understands what you just said.
It doesn't mean we are dumb or can not learn new things. If that was the case we would not be here. What it means is before you answer someone that got up enough guts to ask you a question that might sound stupid to you, to them they are just trying to learn new things so they too can understand the world they have now found themselves in.
And that is my Ramble for today.....

For putting up with me!
Much Love,
Snook

You aren't old enough to belong to that generation.
before the time of only one person on a telephone line/number,
no such thing as TV, people sitting down together for meals,
leaving the house in the morning, going to a mates house that was unlocked, going to their bedroom with a shouted "Good Morning Mrs ....."
and as long as you were home before the sun set nobody worried.
Like you I have a poor son who is/has learned to tell me the same thing ten different ways until it finally gets in.
That's why we had kids for anyhow, wasn't it?
we had one TV that my Dad was in charge of loll
we ate ALL meals together and yes if you got hurt you just went to the closest house to get a band-aid (plaster)
I'm older then I look LOLLLL
and yes, My Mom had a Bell she rang when it was dinner time....then after that we could go out and play Until the sunset LOLLL
And didn' t we have fun, a different villiains each time, each one had to caught a different way,
the only hi- tech thing was the cap gun if it had dry, new caps, otherwise, they were all wet and didn't let out a real bang,
Eating half cooked food after tired bodies couldn't wait, or there wasn't enough wood to make the fire hot enough. still we didn't die, and will still eat the same tucker ang today even
Really great post and well written and said 😉
We all learn along the way, and we all have different interests and skills.
That means that we know what we know but there are things we know nothing about and that doesn't mean we're stupid, just never learned as all.
But we can all learn and if we have interest in it just might end up knowing bunch 😉
But some things are harder to understand but that's why it's so Awsome that there are amazing people that can teach you 😊
Your Awsome my sweet friend and I wish you a wonderful weekend and big hug 🤗💕
I feel like I need to say For #thealliance now :D
I LOVE being apart of the family!! Speaking of which shouldn't you be sleeping?? <3
lol! The answer to that question — shouldn't Sass be sleeping — is usually yes. 😂
But I love that you're willing to learn, and that you want the whole answer, that you truly want to understand something. I think curation is anything that supports authors on Steemit, and contributes to the platform in the way of interaction. Is that a braod enough definition for you? Also, I've only been here a month and a half, so I'm still learning tons! Glad to have you in the family, @snook. You're good people. :)
Thank you for the answer and yes!! That makes a ton of sense to me how you worded it.....and why it is used as much as it is all over the place!
Thank you also for taking the time to read my posts! hugs
I used to drink water from the hose. I'm not sure about the whole, "wait till 25 minutes mark before you comment" kinda thing. I got my first .002 curation reward yesterday, and I'm still not sure why. Most are just .001 lol. 😍
I think I could explain curation to you, but it would have to be over a live video chat. Should we record it for posterity?
hmmmmmmmmmm maybe in a week or two after everyone forgets about my Zombie video lolll
I think I understand curation, but explaining it is a different story...when you upvote it's like putting stake in another person's post, and depending on the payout for the post, you get rewarded too. Beyond that, I'm as lost as you! 😅
I wasn't interested in discord either. Whenever I got an invite, I joined the channel, but then would shy away from the actual chatting part for the most part. The exception was when I tried to join #thealliance, and I'm still getting the hang of it all.
I love the cartoon images!! They are so fun, and they capture emotion perfectly! Great post, and have a wonderful day! 😃
Thank you for your help!!
and thanks for stopping to read my post!!!
