One Million Dollars/24 hours ~ Snooks version

in #milliondollarchallenge8 years ago (edited)

I got tagged in this new Challenge this morning by @shadowspub. Hmmm, Thanks! LOL

The idea is: You've been given a $1,000,000. What would you buy within the first 24 hours (it can't be Steem related)?
Then tag five other victims.

First the easy part. I'm tagging @simgirl, @inthenow, @carlgnash, @ethandsmith, @omra-sky in hopes some will pick up their notice from GINAbot and be very happy they now have a Challange to do!

I could have gone about this challenge many ways. I decided to pick the most logical way, to me, for it to all play out and maybe, in the end, a few people would be happy. Don't hold your breath though! LOL!

I have had this discussion with my husband on more than one occasion. Let me rephrase that. I have heard his opinion of winning one million dollars on more than one occasion. In a nutshell, he says it not enough money. Period.

Sitting where I am, I'm thinking it's one million more then we have. How in the world can you find something to complain about when you are being given one million dollars? He can and he does and does it quite convincingly I might add.

Which leads to the whole glass half empty, glass half full fiasco.

By the time he is done destroying any hope in Whoville, I'm more than done talking about money we will never see in my lifetime. Do not take this as giving up hope. Never, ever give up hope. Never, ever give up your dreams either. No matter how big or small they are.

Hope and dreams are what keeps you alive late at night. They help you make it through days where you want to give up when life get's too hard sometimes. Hope and dreams are free and special presents from God to help you make it through this world. What I believe anyway and it's my million dollars we are talking about so....

Now the clocks ticking and I have 24 hours to spend one million dollars after taxes are already taken out because you have to figure that in too. Which means for ease of math, I really won 1,356,875.00 or thereabouts. Yes, he makes things this complicated.

If you won a million dollars how much would you get after taxes
Let's say you win a $1 million jackpot. If you take the lump sum today, your total federal income taxes are estimated at $356,875 (figuring a tax bracket of 35%).

The first thing I would do would be to get up early and get on the computer and look for land 'Up North' which where I live is anywhere above highway 9. You are just going to have to trust me on the highway 9 deal.

I would be looking for land that has plantable farmer fields to rent out, a river running through it, pond(s), woods, some swamp areas, not a must but helpful, some open land that would fit one midsize house with a full basement and attached garage, two almost tiny homes, all handicapped ready, and one very large workshed.

Once I found the land, in the car I would go. While driving up past highway 9, I would be making phone calls to realtors to see the land as soon as I got up there. I also would be calling places that build homes, to set up tours of homes so I can pick out what I want.

All the homes would have new furniture and of course a great computer system.

From there I would sign all the papers and get everything set so there was no way to back out of the deal. This would be a must.

Next, I would drive home and break the news to my husband that he is now the proud owner of his dream home, dream land, that is self-sufficient, along with self-sustaining.

Oh, and that I'm taking his Dad, my Mom and me and moving 'Up North'.

I would explain that he is more than welcome to join us as long as he wants but that I don't want to hear how it's all going to fall apart because I did it all wrong.

He will grumble and complain all the way while we wait for the houses to get finished being build and the chore of moving his Dad and my Mom up there.

Then I would move. I'm thinking it will take him about 2 years to finally realize that it's not going anywhere and finally move up there full time. LOL

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Okay, that was fun on some many levels to write! LOLL

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Love,
