Journey to SteemIt

in #introducemyself10 years ago (edited)

I been looking for different ways to be able to make a living.  I do not have the hardware to be able to mine effectively.  Being I do not have any disposable income to buy hardware for mining, I never stopped looking for a way to at least break even.  I have tried CPU mining but on older equipment is way to slow.  For a bit I have been trading the coins I made at faucets on Poloniex, but that is not always easy and not making much that way either so…

Still looking for other options, I was just chating in the troll box on Poloniex and someone started to talk about Steem.  That peaked my interest and so I spent some time looking it up, and that brings me here now to

Well, so far I love the way SteemIt is.  From the short couple days I have been here I see a couple small features that could help some people.  But they have been mentioned by others so far.  For example a way to see if the content someone is posting is mostly his original work or simply resteemed.  Then as a contributor you can also look to see what percent of things are your own.

This is an article @mindhunter wrote https://steemit.com/steemit/@mindhunter/2-steemit-random-questions-what-is-your-steemit-resteem-rate-and-why-is-original-content-declining-on-steemit#@mindhunter/re-smysullivan-re-mindhunter-2-steemit-random-questions-what-is-your-steemit-resteem-rate-and-why-is-original-content-declining-on-steemit-20161107t090029353z

Another idea that I don’t think I have a source, but there seems to be a lot of talk about different tools on the Steem Network. I have tried looking but they are not there or the page does not exist. Right now today these are the tools I have found, I have not used them, but they are working today anyway.

I do think it would be amazing if there was a better way to keep track of all these tools.  I did find there looks to be a way to post through an application that was made, don’t know where I found it and it looked like it was not yet running.  If someone has a good way to keep up with all these tools in one place would be great.

Up till now I have never like social media, I do like this community.  I plan to post more, and see what other things I might be able to do to be involved.

If you use Google Chrome: steemstats is a great tool.

Have you seen the steemtools website?

Keep exploring... the STEEM universe is growing!

Steem on,
Mike

Cool thanks. I have not seen the Steemtootls before, and I did not know there was the Chrome steemstats either.

I have also found several ways to earn additional STEEM beyond posting and curating. However, posting original quality content with pictures is always the best way to earn on SteemIt.

If you like sports you may want to follow @steemsports
The current post is
SteemSports: Chris Weidman vs Yoel Romero UFC 205 New York - Mass SP Distribution Game!
I am not really good at picking sports winners on my own. I typically let the post sit for about 30 minutes to gather votes from members of the SteemIt community. Then I pick the team that has the most votes. It usually pays off.

I recently came across @earnsteem
The current post is Faucet #2 - Solve the Puzzle and Win 2 STEEM!

You can always choose to play or not play. And remember to follow the rules associated with each post.

Scan the new posts feature every now and then for other opportunities to earn additional STEEM. I have even come across whales who distribute STEEM just for upvoting and commenting their posts. I haven't seen any of those post recently.

When you are writing original content posts you can include the tags "minnowsunite" and "steemsquad" to draw attention to your posts. (You get up to 5 tags, I try to remember to include those tags as the last two tags on my original content posts.) Those keywords in your tags will draw their attention and possibly push your post into the "hot" category on SteemIt to draw even more attention. This has the benefits of possibly increasing your reputation and increasing your payout. And high quality posts may be recognized by the @curie project and other pools who promote high quality posts.

Steem on,
Mike
