Introduction to English

We need to know a lot more about the use of English in our daily lives or in the workplace (overseas) for communication.

We use english for communication purpose .How english has been originated we don't know. They say English is a West Germanic language originated from the Indo-European family. It was the first language spoken by the early settlers in England. It is named after Angle, one of the ancient Germanic peoples who migrated from Anglia, a peninsula in the Baltic Sea, to the territory of Great Britain and later to Anglia after them. Scots are known as the closest relatives of English, followed by the Low Saxon and Frisian languages. Although the English origin is West German, its vocabulary is particularly influenced by Old Norse French, Latin, as well as Old Norse (a North Germanic language). English-speaking people are known as Anglophones.
Middle English began to be spoken after the conquest of England by the Normans in the late eleventh century, and considerable French (Old Norman) Latin vocabulary was incorporated into English about three hundred years ago.
As a result of the invasion of the United States as well as the British Empireand their influence modern English began to be spoken around the world from the 17th century. English has become the leading language of international discourse and linguistics in all kinds of printed electronic media across the country, as well as in professional contexts in many fields such as science, navigation and law.
