Cityscape Photography: El Helicoide

in #cityscapephotography9 years ago (edited)

For this week cityscape photography contest I am posting what It was going to be a huge shopping centre for those days, ´El Helicoide´ ....

It was designed by the architects Pedro Neuberger, Dirk Bornhorst and Jorge Romero Gutiérrez during the goverment of Marcos Pérez Jimenez , for different reasons, I suppose many of them political, the work was not concluded or at least not concluded properly...

the destination of the structure is nowadays totally different than the original idea .... there are some government institutions based in it ...

for the time this structure was designed (about 1956) it was a very modern design, including the idea of vehicles going all around the place and allowing the parking close to the shops ...

As you can see in the photo the structure is now surrounded by a very crowded area with popular constructions ...

please read more in here

this week for Juliank's cityscapephotography contest I am bringing a view from the city centre of the Helicoide.

PS: about the photograph: the photograph was taken from a building far away from the place and the photo was digitally zoomed in order to get the view of this building, after zoomed the image was enhanced with photoshop ... i did my best with the camera I was using that day ...
