Buddha Relief on the Rock of Ahn Yang Am in Changsindong Area of Seoul

in #travel5 years ago

A Buddha relief was carved on the rock standing beside the temple.
It looked strange for a foreign women attending this tour with us.
She seemed to look at here and there for a while, and she looked very serious in front of the relief.

So I got closer to there after her leaving, as I’d not disturb her tranquility.
She looked so happy while standing there. I could read her peaceful mind on her slight smile on her face.

It was written this relief was carved at the very last period of Choson Dynasty. King and Royal family funded for this relief, in my guess they’d like to do everything to preserve their crown.
But regardless of their wishes, Choson Kingdom was fallen into the rule by the Imperialist Japan.

Interesting thing was the face of Buddha seemed to look after King Gojong who funded for this relief, in my guess.

Definitely looked like King Gojong, I'm glad you got closer to take a better shot really, it's really a brilliant piece, I think the carving really looked familiar until you said, brilliant snap really. Well-done @slowwalker

A beautiful stone relief, @slowwalker.

I also noted the tranquil look on the buddha's face.

I think it interesting that you looked at the Buddha from the perspective of a foreigner.

The woman was intrigued and as you described, she had a peaceful bearing and a slight smile on her lips.

To me, this shows the spiritual principle that you reap what you sow - if you sow peace, you reap peace.

The non-violent principle seemed to also work in the case of King Gojong who was preserved from harm when Korea was occupied by Japan.

Such observations make one pause and think, my friend.

@slowwalker,very nicely written up about Buddha relief which are very true

@slowwalker, More foreigners like to very close to eastern Buddhism. They prefer to find history of Buddhism. I've seen more times more foreigners come and visit Sri Lankan temples and ask temple's history through head of monk. These foreign lady like these. Amazing to see face of Buddha here. It looks surprising to me now. Like as king of dynasty. However you explain much better with best photo shots.

Nice place to travel on
