A beauty of tradional architecture in Korea

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

There was a pavilion on the hill behind the Church.
This pavilion had been used as a praying and contemplation for a long time. People are using the pavilion as a rest area.

It was built about 102 years ago.

The point I focused at is as the architecture of traditional building.

under the roof. geometric patterns

Interesting thing is side crossbeam. Two crossbeams were made by the bent wood. It was amazing how they adjusted the height with bent wood.

Near the pavilion, you could see a pine tree called “Sant Father Kim Daegeon’ s Tree”. Nobody kows Why they call the pinetree “Saint Kim Dae gun’s”.

Anyway the pintree was awesome.

Thanks for the pics and the explanations. In the alpine regions of Europe one can find many houses built with wood. So your pics of the pavillon remind me to my homeland. But of course the landscape looks quite different. As steemit users are spread over the whole world, we can learn every day much about foreign cultures, architecture, plants, animals and landscape. Greetings from Munich, Germany

It is very nice we share our cultures all around the world.

did you guys know that there is not a single metal nail nor screw in this fantastic piece of architecture?

Structures built by our ancestors is 10x stronger compared to the new generation.

Yes, they even built it with only their hands! it's amazing!
