Why Steemit Users Should Be Able To Embed Facebook Videos

Currently Steemit allows users to easily embed a YouTube video in a post. I think the community would benefit from an embed feature for Facebook videos. Here are my reasons why: 

Access To More Media  

As of 2016, 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute and almost 5 billion videos are watched on Youtube every single day. Steemit users can already access and source YouTube media when creating Steemit posts. 

Both platforms have roughly 1 billion users. Facebook is positioning itself to be a serious contender in the online video sharing space.  With growth patterns like we have seen, YouTube might have some serious competition. Facebook now sees 100 million hours of daily video watch time. 

If we want Steemit to be a success and grow, we must make it easy to access and embed media from other websites such as Facebook.

Give Steemit Users More Freedom

If Steemit is truly a platform that is anti-censorship, we should not be excluding content from other sites. Most photos and YouTube Videos embed easily. This is great. But it seems like Facebook content is being excluded and essentially censored on Steemit. I have been unable to find a way to embed a Facebook image or video (also tested the embed code in the Steemit editor)

Why is this?

Steemit Users should have the freedom to choose what content they want in their posts and what website it comes from. 

Cross Promotion Will Help Steemit Grow 

Cross promotion is successful because partners can successfully expand through each other's customer or user base.  I would venture to say most Steemit users have facebook accounts, at least all the people I know personally. This means that expanding into each others user base is mostly a one way road, Facebook users will migrate to Steemit. We can post Steemit posts on Facebook easily, with a nice picture and meta data, but Steemit users do not have the functionality to embed Facebook media on Steemit. Reciprocity is a key part of life and business. If we want to see facebook users use Steemit more, we should include functionality for them to share their content.
