A photo walk in the famous old harbour of Chania.

Hello, friends of the world of xpilar community. Today I'd like to share some photos I took at the old Venetian harbor of Chania, which is located on the island of Crete in Greece.
Every time I visit this location, it is crowded with people walking around and admiring the sights of the harbor, which date from both Venetian and Turkish rule. This time, the harbor was almost empty, and I was able to take several pictures of the sights and the harbor without the presence of people in my photos. Just sights, sea and beautiful architecture.

The picture above shows the old Egyptian lighthouse, which is the port's and the city of Chania's symbol. The Venetians designed this lighthouse in the 16th century, and the Egyptians restored it in the early 19th century. It is one of the city's most photographed spots.
In the photo below you see a very small modern lighthouse that helps fishermen at night to orient themselves and an old stone building.

A picture of an old stone house and a palm tree which are mirrored in the sea . The next image depicts the same scene, with the exception of a boat passing in front of the stone building. Both pictures are fantastic.

Below is another remarkable Venetian stone structure that is now used as a Center for Mediterranean Architecture.

Continuing we see an old Muslim mosque which was built by the Ottomans during the Turkish occupation. Today it operates as an exhibition center.

Just behind the harbor, is the old town of Chania which consists of traditional Venetian buildings, narrow alleys that when you walk in them you think you are in another era.

So that was for today. I hope you liked my photos and consider to visit one day the town of Chania. It has many amazing beaches and plenty of venetian and turkish sights which remain in the town for many years showing us the history of the town.
