Go Lang: How to Get Process ID using Go Language

in #golang7 years ago

Learn How to Get Process ID in Go Lang. When you want to get the list of running processes in the background, you can use go language for this. And it can be pretty easy to get those processes in the background. So check out the video below that shows how to get the background process ID using go language.

In case of the code, you can take a look at the two libraries that allows you to read the system process and output the information on the console.

import (
  "fmt"
  "os"
)

Here you can see the fmt and the os package modules that you are going to use for the reading process ID in go lang.

Now that we are cleared with this. You have to create a variable then call the os.Getpid() to store it's value in it. And then you can simply println that output. It would be lot easier to get the process ID here. You may notice that though you may get process ID here, you may also have to get the process information in detail. But that part I have left for you to figure it out. You can easily do this in python and rust and it's possible to do the same with the go lang as well. There are some other external go packages that can be used for this as well.

Once again if you have not watched the video above, you can go to the link here on How to get Process ID in Go language.

Tip for Go language Code Editor

Do note that the file for the golang has the .go file. Write the code, save the file and then run the code. Make sure to save the file before you run code.
