Beautiful Reflections on the Virgin River
The surface of the Virgin River reflects the illuminated clouds while streaks of sunlight shine down through breaks in the storm and on the horizon the golden alpenglow hues are beginning to paint the distant cloud cover.
In this image I lensed while flying back to Boulder City Nevada after shooting the wilderness areas of the Kaibab First Nations Reservation in Southern Utah, I came upon this scene. In the foreground lays the Virgin River right above where it meets with the Colorado River to become Lake Mead.
The first set of mountains above the river are known as the Black Mountains, behind them on the left are a small range known as Lava Butte and the Rainbow Gardens. And in the far distance on the horizon lay the Spring Mountains. Along the horizon on the left is Mount Potosi, in the middle is Red Rock and on the right is Mount Charleston.
This image is from my ongoing project in which I am trying to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.
Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing locations that surround us.

Hey thanks so much. I shot this with a Hassleblad H5D using a 60mpx digital back with an 80mm prime lens. I lensed it shooting out of a moving airplane through the open window as I was flying the airplane.
