RE: Filed My First T-Shirt Trademark Today

in #amazonmerch6 years ago

I have been working with a guy who filed for a patent, cost him $8,000.00. He invented a hand held machine to simplify drywall taping. I don't know much about such things, are trademark and patents different? Anyway, congrats!

Hey @skiponline . So I'm no expert but from my understanding a trademark is simply a name or phrase or logo. A patent your actually patenting the function or a process. Patents seem to be MUCH more complicated. It can cost thousands of Dollars just to have a lawyer do patent research only to find out your idea is already taken. ITs also a lot more detailed in that you need drawings and writeups about how the product actually functions. With a trademark it can just be a name or word, at most you need to provide an image of your logos color and type face. Did your buddy ever get the patent and get his product on the market?

As far as I know he hasn't yet. His wife has a Marketing degree and did all the paper work and the drawings were done through some program that transforms photos.
