Butterfly Day - Goldenrod EcosystemsteemCreated with Sketch.

Here's a few critters from the goldenrod peak blooms around here for this #butterflyday by @whatisnew

Here's somekind of swallowtail maybe... I've never seen one with these markings and I wasn't able to get a good shot of the top.

Here it is lurking behind the thistle plant.

Nearby this plump bumblebee was gorging on the goldenrod.

Here's a flash version of the same bee. Notice the tiny aphid legs nearby.

It moved on to a thistle nearby.

Pigging out like crazy.

The honeybees were also swarming the goldenrod.

Ladybugs were on seek and destroy missions for aphids.

With a bit of time for recreation.

Here's a baby ladybug in a rock crevice nearby.

This is an overview of the goldenrod ecosystem.

Finally some orange mushrooms with a slug (with slime) and a teeny tiny spider on the stem near the middle. I believe these are mycena leaiana aka orange mycena, these aren't poisonous but aren't palatable either. Happy #butterflyday

Amazing photos as always. Those delicate butterflies have to be so careful with feeding on thistle. The ladybugs were doing their job and found time to have fun too. LOL! Now, about the goldenrods. They do attract many insects but I won't go near them anymore. I have been so sick for the past month with severe allergies because of goldenrods. I never had a problem in the past with allergies but these got me bad. Maybe because I was around them for 2 hours taking pics on a windy day. I was told by the doctor that where there are goldenrods there will be ragweed too. Ragweed grows right next to goldenrods. Beware! Thanks for using #butterflyday tag. : )

I've had bad allergies to it in the past but when i switched my medication they went away. My old medication had loads of side effects (for epilepsy) i guess allergies were one of the side effects. Doctors didn't believe me so i went to another to have my medicine switched and now ragweed doesnt affect me at all.

That is interesting. It is a good thing you went to another doc. I get more information about medications from pharmacists than I do from doctors. It seems like doctors only go by what the pharma sales reps tell them about the meds. Have a great weekend! : )

Son fotos maravillosas. Que emoción!!! Son perfectas las imágenes. Y las mariquitas son mis preferidas, las amo. Gracias.

Gorgeous shots such crisp detail of the butterflies and bugs

Those goldenrod ecosystems have tons of different subjects in them.

Must be so interesting to visit them never know what you will see

I saw a huge black and whote hornet but wasn't able to get a shot of it. There was also a leaf colored moth that stopped by but it was too fast as well.

Getting shots of the little critters can be so hard for sure, they are so fast moving

Wonderful, thanks for sharing!

Nice crisp macro shots.
By the way once I had a photo of baby ladybug and I did not know what it was at that time. It looks so different.

They change quite a bit, the baby larvae really demolish the aphids. Its hard to believe they turn into a ladybug later on.

You are so lucky you have lots of flowers to attract butterflies!

Fields of them are in full bloom around here right now.
