SAYING GOODBYE TO AMSTERDAM

in #blog10 years ago

On our final morning in Amsterdam we woke up morose and sullen, knowing it was time to say goodbye. With a couple of hours to kill before we had to head off, we did what we knew would fill the hole in our hearts and make us happy: we went to get some good grub.We had heard that Toos & Roos had some good breakfast and for the final time, we hopped on our bikes and rode off into the wind… Or at least down the canals.

We got ourselves some juices to prep us up, orange for Rebecca and me and a banana and berry shake for Rose.

We went for the full monty, eggs, toast, french toast, yogurt, granola, fruits, the whole shebang and shared it between the three of us.

I saw the beautiful fresh, clean canvas that was the French toast and drizzled it in strop syrup. A spoonful would probably have been enough to cause diabetes but art is art, so I drizzled and painted away.

Quite the culinary artist, no? The masterpiece was soon destroyed by jabbing forks and sharp knives.

Rebecca attacked her breakfast omelette with sheer determination.

I was just a bit more relaxed.

Now if I’m completely honest, the food itself wasn’t drool-enducingly amahhhhzing. It was a good, filling breakfast but nothing you wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere.

We loosened our buttons and belts and made our way back to pack out bags, hoping that the breakfasty goodness would fill our depressed feelings and make it a bittersweet goodbye.

Bye bye Amsterdam,

it’s been real! Don’t worry, I’ll come back for you!
