The moon is getting a mobile data network

Der Mond bekommt mobiles Internet

You have readt right, our moon receives a mobile network. This 4G network will make it possible to stream HD video from the Moon's surface to Earth.

The project involves Vodafone Germany, Nokia and, surprisingly the automaker Audi. The project was announced at this year's Mobile Word Congress in Barcelona. The companies involved collaborate with PTScientists, a Berlin-based group of volunteer scientists working on specific projects in collaboration.

For this futuristic goal, "only" 4G connectivity is provided because the older technology is more reliable than the new 5G.

An dem Projekt sind Vodafone Deutschland, für die Hardware Nokia und überraschender Weise auch der Autohersteller Audi beteiligt. Das Projekt wurde auf dem diesjährigen Mobile Word Congress in Barcelona angekündigt. Die beteiligten Unternehmen arbeiten mit PTScientists zusammen, einer in Berlin ansässigen Gruppe freiwilliger Wissenschaftler, die in Zusammenarbeit an speziellen Projekten arbeiten.

Für dieses futuristische Ziel wird "nur" 4G-Konnektivität bereitgestellt, weil die ältere Technologie zuverlässiger sei als die neue 5G.
