Noodle Kimbob from Seoul

Noodle Kimbob is located at a university area in Seoul, and is great for an affordable meal. It is quite easy to find, particularly for tourists as there is a big cube signage and its shop name written in English outside. And if you're not sure whether this is for you or what to eat, you can browse at the bowls of model noodles inside the cabinet before you go in. Since this is located at the university area, the menu has some English, that's very helpful if you don't know Korean.

Upon entering the shop, they have a Korean menu on the wall. Most of the dishes are around 5000 to 6000 Won, that's about USD5, very affordable even for students. Some of the items are cheaper at 3 to 4000 Won, maybe those are the seaweed rolls that are freshly made.

Seating is spacious and there's a choice of tables or you can sit on high stools at the bar by the counter. Being in the university area, they even have free wifi of course.

The korean noodle dishes are quite different from the ones I'm used to. They eat a lot of glass noodles, that's what I ordered. It doesn't come in a big bowl of broth, and of course the one I ordered is spicy. The glass noodles are quite heavy and slippery, so they give you a pair of scissors if you want to cut them up to make it easier to eat. I was ok. I just slurpped it out of the bowl.

My wife didn't want to a meal that was too heavy so skipped the noodles and ordered fish slices soup. We had these fish slices at the market and many street food stalls already a few times. These are deep fried fish pate cooked in a broth with some veggies.

By the way, the other reason my wife didn't want a heavy meal is because she wanted a quick meal so she could go shopping in the nearby university area!!!
