Patio de las Doncellas, Seville, Spain

in #ntopaz4 years ago (edited)

ntopaz-image-0Located inside the Real Alcazar, one of the oldest palace still in use today, the Patio de las Doncellas translates to The Courtyard of the Maidens. Rumour has it that in the old days, the Moors requested 100 virgins every year from the Christian Kingdom. There is a long corridor of archways that surrounds the central courtyard. These are decorated with lavish carvings and marbling that covers near every inch of surface. All the visitors, myself included were admiring these exquisite craftmanship in awe as everyone wandered around the courtyard.
