Nuclear Throne is a quick based 2d twitch shooter.
You do not need to play it like that you can play it slower but I like to blast through enemies as quick as I see them. I play this game as if it was quake.
There is pros and cons to that
Pros more chances for secret areas
Cons you die more often and you die quick
Enemies can be behind you or to the side of you and you can get shot from every which way. The whole game for me is always intense.
You kill hordes and hordes of enemies and progress through levels.
When you level up you choose a new mutation that gives you a ability
Every character has special abilities for mutations like for the character Weaponsmith to combine higher tiered weapons and items.
The bullets on the screen from your weapon or enemies weapon can fill the screen.

Big Dog

I will be talking about the mod based off the main game
The name of the mod is called nuclear throne ultra.
They added a dozen new characters and 100s of new weapons in the game.
Every character has a special ability. One has the power to slow down time.
Another can make 5 of himself so you will get 5 times the guns you have.
Another can combine weapons and create new weapons.
Weapons zap freeze light enemies fire explode fill the screen with bullets snipe home on to enemies with splinters. There is even melee weapons but I barely use those I die to quick with them.
There is a game mode for every single type of person. Speed runner mode where it rewards you for being speedy in the game.
Do not get hit mode. Random weapons. Enemies can kill you in one shot. I think I counted 30 different ways to play. I have only unlocked like 5 lol.
The game is completely random. Everytime you load it up you will have the same enemies but different layout and the enemies can be abundant or it can be

Rebel-

He can clone himself and make a mini army of dudes.

Crystal-

He can block any attack at any time and the projectiles go back to the enemies but do not block for too long or you will lose health or your shield will break

Doom Launcher

This gun launches 5 little bombs that launch and will follow enemies. In my version of the game If you go near em they blow up. He either has a mutation that allows that or He is playing an earlier version of the mod.

Great boss battles!

I do not like how this guy is playing he is just standing there in the perfect spot to not get hit and he is using one of my most hated weapons that usually do not hit guys. CHEAP. BUT it works so kudos to him.

As you complete the game more enemies appear and different variations of them and more bosses.

Try not to die!
Lets see how far you can go.
This game is extremely addictive once you die you can come back 10 more times and not feel fulfilled.
I have not beaten the game but I have gotten to the last few stages.
