Hello, Steemians! Hi friends! Today I will show you photos of the unique monument to the great Empress Catherine II, which is located in Krasnodar (Russia).
Today we will make a small tour to the monument of Empress Catherine II. This monument has undergone various events, and its project was developed in 1895 by the famous artist and sculptor Mikhail Mikeshin. That year, the celebration of the 200-th anniversary of the Kuban Cossack army was widely celebrated in Kuban.
However, the artist did not have time to complete his work, and it continued sculptor Boris Eduards, and the monument was opened only in 1907. Unfortunately, the monument did not stand for a long time, and after 13 years, by the decision of the revolutionary Committee, it was dismantled and handed over for melting. And only in 2006 it was restored to its former place.
The Empress is depicted as a majestic and imperious woman. In the hands of Catherine you can see scepter and power, its Royal porphyry and two orders of St. Andrew and St. George.
To the left of Catherine II is depicted Prince Potemkin-Tavrichesky. Surrounded by war banners and military signs. On the right there are three first cat atamans of the Cossack army: Anton Golovaty, Sidor Bely and Zachary Chepega (who just chose a place for our city).
On the monument you can see the historical letter, which was published by the Empress. She said that the fertile Kuban land given to the Zaporozhye Cossack army "in perpetuity". Once they helped a great Empress to win, so let it learn and keep the land.
In 1793 in Karasunsky Kut settled the main military camp under the command of Zachary Chepega, and after 4 years it was renamed Ekaterinodar.
On the opposite side of the monument is a blind Kobzar with a guide, and behind him there is a list of victories won by Russia with the participation of the Kuban cossacks (Ochakov, Borodino, SHIPKA, Prague and Warsaw, Leipzig and Paris). The sculptor thought through all the details, took into account historical facts and details, carefully transferred all the famous characters.
Around the monument on a red granite gold recorded the names of all the characters depicted here: ... Vasyurinskaya Cossack Kuren Gritsko Nachos (Cossack name of Gregory Potemkin: he enlisted in the Cossack community, and the fated lover of the Empress and became a dad to his comrades not only Smoking, but also for the whole host).
This is the place I like to visit not only the residents, but many visitors to our city. And very close to the monument is a beautiful Park, it has a lot of alleys and green squares with bright flower beds.
There were a lot of kids near the monument. Everyone wanted to climb on that gun, but did not, because she's surrounded by a fence and Wade was not.
Peering into the image of the Empress, it seems that she is proud of the city, which was named in her honor. Look at the look on her face. By the way, today there are discussions about the return of the historical name of the city.
