THE CHOICES WE MAKE IN PUBLIC PLACES

I was in a bus from one end of town in Lagos to another. Usually I sit quietly minding my business, maybe looking out the window or watching the tv in the bus.

There was this aguement and everyone was just saying whatever they like as regards the subject matter.

Right where i was, there was this man that got a seat on time in the bus and for reasons best to him waited till the bus was about moving after the last passenger had entered and called out to the awkers to buy some soda and snack.

He brought out one thousand (1000) naira note for the lady to get him his balance. By the time the balance was given to him the bus driver could not wait any more and drove off.

His problem now was that he did not get to collect back his drink and snack from the lady and his one thousand naira had reduced to eight hundred and fifty (850) naira.

He was shouting at the driver and telling him to stop, calling him all sorts of names. The driver who, was about stopping contimued the journey because of the insult from this man. Mean while the lady's son was chassing the bus with the items.

It looked funny though but not a pleasant sight to behold.

This brought serious arguments between those who are for and against the driver for not stopping.

Though I did not contribute a word to the hot quarrel, it made me realise that the man was at fault.

He had the time to purchase what ever he wanted before the last person entered the bus whish was about 10 minutes before the driver moved, but he choose to wait till that time.

And you know in Lagos a lot of people are in a hurry and most of the frustrated ones are there to pour their frustrations on other people.

My thought was why did he waited till that time before he made the decision to buy something?
Could he be frustrated and needed something to vent his anger or disappointments on?

For what ever reason, his choice of timing was wrong.

Finally the man was shouted down by the majority of people in the bus because they thought he should have bought what ever he wanted earlier

Many people need help more than one can imagine. I felt so bad about the situation especially putting that child through the chase yet for nothing. He could have been knocked down by another vehicle or fallen badly. All because of someone's decision.

Lesson learnt

We should not blame others for our indecision

In any action we take in a public place, we have to consider the people around

Sometimes we need to let certain things go and move on.

Our manner of approach will most times make people to help/assist us or not

We should be polite and take responsibility for our acrions

We should know that every man has a right
