La Vanille nature park, Mauritius

We recently visited La Vanille Nature park in the South of Mauritius. It was a bit of a drive coming from the North but the trip was well worth it and we enjoyed our day there. Our group of friends arrived at around 10:30 am, Just in time to take the walking tour with a park guide to get info on everything.

The park houses crocodiles, iguanas, chameleons, Mauritian Fruit bats, Flying foxes, Ring Tailed lemurs and most of all, giant Aldabra tortoises.

Making friends with a 40 year old tortiose. You can feed them branches provided by the park staff at around 15 Mauritian Rupees a branch.

A Flying Fox coming in for a snack.

After lunch of crocodile burgers at the restaurant we did another round around the park again at our own pace.

We were very impressed by the extensive international insect museum with bugs in colors that you wouldn't believe if you hadn't seen them!

Finding the Park can be a bit tricky, but I recommend following the road signs in the village and not Google Maps as the map tries to take you through a private sugacane farm.
For more info have a look at their website La Vanille Nature Park
