Building my ETH Aluminium Mining Rig Construction / Video & GuidesteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi Friends & Followers!

Around two months ago I wanted to start earning some passive income as Ethereum had hit some major highs getting well over $300 USD. So I thought why not start building some rigs and buying some GPU's and fitting them out. The time that I got into it was just at the time when everyone else decided to start building rigs, so one , it made the price of GPU's extremely expensive and two, made them hard to actually even find. I persevered and luckily found some low priced cards to start my new project. In all I purchased 11 GPU's ranging from RX 470 4GB's to RX 480 8GB's and some RX 570 and RX 580's. I am really looking forward to the Vega 64 Cards that apparently will perform at around 100 MH/s each !!! Hopefully I will have a few next week if my order comes through. If I do manage to get them - I will be sure to share some benchmarks and performance videos :)

Remember, you can use this rig to Mine anything that uses a GPU - Find a list here of what will give you the best return for your mining power. Currently Ethereum and Musicoin provide the best returns at the time of writing this post.

Onto my rig build. I noticed a stack of rig cases for sale on Ebay for $100 USD+ and decided to build my own, so far I have built around 6, please note that in my video , my drill battery was playing up a little :( Anyway, Please watch my video and I have also included the dimensions and materials so you can also make one if you like.

You will find all the materials and dimensions on the bottom of the page, here is what the build looks like

Buy your materials - In Australia , I buy my materials at Bunnings Hardware - I love that place, obviously overseas, you would visit your local hardware store for your materials and you may find yours are cheaper than here.

You will need a hacksaw, some masking tape to reduce the sharp edges on your aluminium angle when you cut it and a cordless or wired drill. You will also require 2.5 metres of aluminium angle, some timber and some self drilling screws, I have a list at the end of my post.

This is the aluminium angle I use.

Always check your measurements twice to avoid wasting your materials! haha

As mentioned, I use masking tape to reduce sharp edges and a hacksaw to cut

Here is what the final rig looks like minus the hardware

And an underneath shot

I always put some adhesive rubber feet stickers on to protect the surface put it on from being scratched

As shown in the video I also screw on every corner after the initial assembly to strengthen the frame

Here is the rig with some cards and a motherboard and Power Supply

Some of my older rigs I built with 5 cards in each

Material Sizes

rig_case_sizes.png

The materials to use per rig case - will hold up to 6 x GPU's

2x pieces of 3 Metre Moulding Aluminium Angle 20x20x1.5mm - cost approx $32.00 AUD *each rig only uses 5 metres, so you will have some left

1x piece of Pine Dar 18x18mm 2.7 metre in length - cost approx $5 AUD

1 box of Self Drilling Screws - I used Zenith Metal Button Head Phillips Drive 8G x 12mm *35 screws in the pack - cost approx $4 AUD

I also use some masking tape to reduce the rough edges of my cuts and I cut with a hacksaw.

Cut Aluminium lengths to:
4 x 55cm
4 x 35cm
4 x 30cm

Cut Wood lengths to:
5 x 35cm
1 x 55cm

Remember - You will require to mine: the following hardware, 1-6 GPU's, a compatible Motherboard, 4GB minimum RAM, Win10 or Linux etc, Power Supply (I recommend 1000-1200 WATT, 64 GB SSD HDD, PCIe Risers X how many GPU's you have and the case. I personally use Claymores miner , but there are plenty of alternatives, feel free to ask me anything about the rig case or mining, I am happy to assist :)

Are you in Australia @sadiya ? Cards are easy to come by now. The Vega cards are extremely limited at this stage and won't be released here until late next week.

Love it.

Now you have got me interested in this as up to now I always thought computers were things we have to buy from stores.

I'll be doing some homework on the topic and if I get stuck, I'll take you up on your offer to help out.

Thank mate.

Thanks @jackmiller . I will post how to install the hardware shortly when I build a new rig. Then I'll also show how to install everything. Thanks, you are always welcome to ask me anything, always happy to help.
