What I want for Christmas: 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS- DAY 10
This is my 10th article in the #twelvedaysofchristmas series initiated by @silverd510 as a Santa’s wish list for stackers.
Like those who joined in on this fun article series, I posted a coin a day [9 so far of 12] that I would love to get as a gift.
The 12 Days of Christmas- DAY 10 and the tenth precious metals piece on my list, is the graded US Gold Coin featured below.
The 2006 first year issue MS70 graded American Gold Buffalo BU coin in the Black Diamond slab is scarce and coveted.
I already posses the 2006 American Gold Buffalo Proof, and the BU slabbed version in this label will be an awesome partner coin to it.

Obverse: Rendition of James Earle Fraser's acclaimed 1913 Buffalo Nickel design of a Native American Indian.
Reverse:Image of Black Diamond, the largest American buffalo in the early 1900s.
Coin Highlights: First Issued by the U.S. Mint. 0.9999 pure gold, 0.3575 troy oz weight, 32.7 mm in diameter.
About this coin...
The American Gold Buffalo pays homage to one of the most iconic coins in American history. First minted in 2006, the American Gold Buffalo was the first 1 oz Gold coin struck by the United States Mint containing .9999 fine Gold. All American Gold Buffalos contain 1 oz of .9999 fine Gold; however, fractional sizes of this Gold bullion coin were minted in 2008 and this one year of production makes them highly collectible.
The design of this Gold bullion coin is based on James Earle Fraser’s iconic and wildly popular 1913 Buffalo Nickel. The obverse of the coin depicts the profile of a Native American man who was modeled after three different chiefs from Native American tribes: Lakota chief Iron Tail, Cheyenne chief Two Moons and Seneca chief John Big Tree. The reverse of the coin features the classic buffalo designed after Black Diamond, a 1,550-pound bison that lived in the early 1900s.
American Gold Buffalos are struck at the West Point Mint in New York. Known as the “Fort Knox of Silver”, the West Point Mint produces all American Eagle coins in Gold, Silver and Platinum as well as all Gold and some Silver commemorative coins.

Hehehe, that is the idea... However, I do try my best to follow my stacking goals and strategy. All the coins I have shown in this "wish list" series have numismatic value, and come with very high premiums. My goal is to stack silver the equivalent of my weight in the form of American Silver Eagles and US Constitutional coins. I have accumulated quite an amount in hand-poured silver, which is not part of my stack. I consider them as part of my collection of silver. Then I also stack fractional gold every month. I do possess a number of full ounces of gold. The American Gold Buffalo shown in this article is a BU version. I have the more preferred (and more expensve) PROOF coin- it was my first full ounce gold coin acquisition which you can see here:

I like the BU version but the proof is so much nicer. The frosty fields on it are tremedous. And you have one of these already..... 😊
I do have the first-year issue proof coin! I had such a hard time saving for it, I almost cried when I got it! This BU coin would be a great complement to it!

BTW, I noted that I am usually late seeing your articles, usually 12 hours after.
